Arena crowd

No Land Rover show would be complete without some great stuff to watch in the arena. And the 2009 LRM Show was no exception.

999 SpectacularVisitors were not disappointed with the range of activities on offer at LANDROVERmax! The main arena offered a 999 spectacular featuring a live car crash rescue scenario and fire fighting demonstration.

One of the real draws to the main arena was the fearsome Twist Off ramp. Angled at 30 degrees and lengthened to encourage the bravest of drivers to ‘have a go’, it saw some fine moments of articulation, dislocation and determination.

In the centre of the main arena lay a new feature to Maxed Out Manouevresthe show. Not content with the common upturned skips and log obstacles of previous shows, the LRM team wanted to push the bar a little higher once more. Using huge drainage pipes, lashed together with ratchet straps and railway sleepers, LRM realised they had created a truly great feature. Resembling a bridge, the Maxed Out Manoeuvres Team were encouraged to perilously get up and onto the railway sleeper top-section, before negotiating the final set of pipes back to earth. The plan for next year is to go bigger still with more live maxed out antics.

Twist OffIf the main arena display wasn’t enough, a second arena offered live motor-cross stunt action. The show was also brought to a breathtaking standstill following the majestic fly-by offered by a Lancaster bomber.

In 2009 there were even bigger prizes on offer with £250 being awarded to one lucky show goer on consecutive days. LRM also offered their 300Tdi Discovery as a prize, which was won by Andrew Cook. The G4 Challenge Club took the Club of the Show award for their ever-popular display of orange G4 extreme kit.
Star Treatment SVX
Land Rover's very own SAS vehicle was judged to be the best coil sprung vehicle for its authenticity. Meanwhile 'Pickles' the breakdwon truck took the silverware for best origibnal vehicle.

The day culminated in the grand ceremony for the LRM STAR TREATMENT winner. The 2009 prize went to Freddie Holland who became the proud owner of a SVX replica 90. Freddie’s donor vehicle started life as a white 90 and underwent thousands of pounds worth of changes thanks to some of the biggest names in the industry.
